After College at TWC (now UTEP) I went to the Peace Corps in Niger, West Africa. Traveled a lot during those years before and after. Met my husband almost 50 years ago in El Paso while he was head of Legal Services.
I was just back from PC and teaching elementary school Art classes. We moved to D.C. in 1973, got married. I taught for several years at the High School level and Kent was in Legal Services at the National offices in DC.
Then he moved to a Law firm- called Crowell & Moring. He is just retired and doesn't like it that much! But I have been retired from teaching for ages as I had my boys, soccer mom was my calling and working in my home studio. And was president of our Neighborhood Association for 6 years. We have had a great life up here in the Mid Atlantic...I mainly love the seasonal changes and gardening. I could go on and on but that's enough to bore anyone!!!
Sorry I can't be at the reunion...how about having it in the Fall or Winter sometimes? It is tooooo hot in Texas (it even beats Africa and D.C.!)
Have a wonderful time and call me if you ever come up to see your Nation's Capitol.
Not sure what to say here. but... Now that it has been eons since we graduated I do want to say this: I find it amazing now as old folks that we were ALL wanting to be 'like everybody else'. Some of us were a bit poorer than others and I know that Patsy and I laughed a lot at one reunion about wishing that we had had NEW SOCKS! And sometimes JUST ANY SOCKS with OUT HOLES or held up with rubber bands!!!!! Funny how those things stick with us.
Now, I really try to let my nieces and grand nieces know that no matter what we are all the same- and how it is best just to be loving and as helpful as you can be to everyone in High School or work or even at the Grocery store. The world has gotten way TOO MEAN and we certainly don't need that. Take care of yourselves and everyone along the way. Hugs, Dale
